New microbe in China's space station

Fictional taikonaut, his face damaged by a virus, looking out from the moon base

Readers of my sci-fi novel Rock Hopper already know the perils of microbes running amok in space, especially on the dark side of the moon. Now, read this sciencealert.com article about a new microbe they have found on the Chinese space station. It should send shivers down your spine.

It's not known yet whether this new species of bacteria evolved on the space station, or arrived in spore form. Also, it's not clear if it poses a threat to the inhabitants of the space station. However, the bacteria seems to have developed a way to survive extreme conditions, and has a cousin that is resistant to antimicrobial agents. So I'd say they need to keep an eye on how it evolves—for sure. Remember The tale of the blue beacon (Chapter 23).
